According to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are looking to buy teenage sensation Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburg this summer.

What's the Word?

After scouting the 17-year-old for a number of months, Chelsea are reportedly looking to bring Jann-Fiete Arp to Stamford Bridge.

The teenage sensation is also attracting interest in his homeland from Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund, but it is though that Chelsea would be willing to pay Hamburg as much as they demand to acquire one of the best teenage footballers in the world right now.

How good has Arp been this season?

Nothing short of exceptional. Despite having never played for the Hamburg first team, Arp has scored 26 goals in 21 games in the youth leagues and has already scored 6 goals in the U17 European Championships, which haven't even concluded yet!

Arp's striking abilities have generated comparisons with Miroslav Klose and latterly, Harry Kane. However, the 17-year-old is yet to taste first team football, which could define just how much quality the German teenage has.

Is Arp a good fit for Chelsea?

Youth Cup after Youth Cup after Youth Cup. It doesn't matter how much quality Chelsea have in their ranks, it seems that very few of their academy players can make the step up into their first team.

Granted, Antonio Conte has given playing time to half a dozen youth players this season, which is a promising sign.

However, a player with the talents of Jann-Fiete Arp will find no benefit from being loaned out to three different teams every season.

If Conte can offer Arp at least a dozen first team appearances next season, Stamford Bridge could well witness the birth of a new footballing genius.
