As reported by Spanish outlet Don Balon, Chelsea could lose one of their top stars this summer with Real Madrid reportedly interested in signing midfielder N'Golo Kante.

What's the story?

After lifting the English Premier League trophy on Sunday, life is good at Chelsea right now, but Antonio Conte knows he needs to hold together the core of his first team in order to sustain success at the club.

That might be a challenge this summer with Real Madrid hovering around one of their most consistent players this season. Don Balon say Zinedine Zidane has made Kante his top target in the upcoming transfer window, believing he can improve his midfield.

Can the Blues resist the big money? Can Kante resist the lure of the Spanish giants?

How important is he?

Having won back-t0-back titles, N'Golo Kante is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished stars currently playing in the English Premier League. His clean sweep of the Players', Writers' and league's Player of the Year awards is a testament to how big a force he has been for Antonio Conte in the heart of the Chelsea midfield.

At 26 he's coming into his prime and Chelsea can't really afford to let him go, given he is the glue that holds everything together for the Blues. Yes, they need talent like Eden Hazard to create and score goals but Kante is just as important, the anchor in the Conte system.

Even if offered huge money, he is worth keeping and Chelsea should resist all attempts to prise him away from Stamford Bridge.
