Antonio Conte wants to build a squad that can compete on numerous fronts next season with European football now a factor for Chelsea after their fantastic title-winning campaign last term.

To that end he’s targeting a massive double swoop for Juventus duo Alex Sandro and Leonardo Bonucci. That’s according to The Express, who say the Blues are willing to spend £55m on the former and £50m on the latter to add significant reinforcements to an already elite squad.

That’s a fair whack of money, even for Chelsea, so is Alex Sandro worth the outlay?

With the huge reported price tag comes a player at the peak of his game currently getting the job done at the highest level of club football.

He was a stand out for Juventus last season on their way to the UEFA Champions League final, making 11 appearances in the competition and featuring in the match against Real Madrid itself.

In total he made 43 appearances for the Italian giants last term, showing versatility valuable to Chelsea by appearing up and down the left flank whether in defence or attack, shining on the majority of occasions.

The Brazilian is entering the peak of his career at 26 years of age and would certainly be a signing that excites supporters at Stamford Bridge, who will welcome big money signings that boost their chances of retaining the Premier League title and making progress in Europe.

He certainly has experience of winning trophies having won 12 major honours in his career with clubs in Brazil, Portugal and Italy.
