Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has refused to discuss reports linking the club with a move for Inter Milan winger Antonio Candreva, according to The Express.

What's the story?

Transfermarketweb have claimed that the Premier League champions are considering a move for the Italy international.

The publication states that the Blues could part with around €27.5m (£24.5m) for the 30-year-old's signature.

The former Lazio winger has played down the speculation, telling Calciomercato:

"I'm proud to wear this shirt. I've bought into an important project here and I'm happy to be here. This shirt has an important history which I honour every time I wear it.

"The links with Chelsea are nice but there's been absolutely nothing to date. The club will take care of any bids that may come in."

Conte has also been asked about the rumours, but he was very tight-lipped when discussing the matter with reporters.

"It is not correct to speak about a player of another team. He is an Inter player and I must respect his team and my players."

What have we learned?

Well, the fact that Conte has not ruled it out completely suggests that an interest may well be there.

From Candreva's point of view, he has covered all bases in that he has admitted that he is happy at Inter, but he also leaves the door open for a Chelsea move by claiming that he is enjoying the speculation.

The Blues have stepped up their transfer activity since losing out to Romelu Lukaku, who decided to join Manchester United.

They have recruited defender Antonio Rudiger, midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and striker Alvaro Morata.

The Express claims that Chelsea are keen to give Victor Moses competition on the right-hand side, and Candreva would certainly provide that.

The Italian made 38 Serie A appearances for Inter last season, and contributed with six goals and 10 assists.
