As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is again at the heart of a big transfer rumour with Everton the latest club to be linked with a move for the red hot goalscorer.
After banging in 32 goals for Celtic last season, Dembele has attracted attention from all over Europe over the last 12 months. However, it appears that interest is set to be firmed up with some heavyweight offers.
The Scottish Sun reckon Everton are ready to smashing their club record transfer fee and offer over £30m for the young Frenchman, who they see as a direct replacement for the impressive Romelu Lukaku.
The Toffees have already been big spenders this summer, signing Davy Klaassen and Jordan Pickford for fees well over £20m.
However, the report says they have more to spend, funded by the potential £80m sale of Lukaku.
Moussa Dembele certainly has the potential to be a massive star in the English Premier League. At this stage he’s not quite at the level of Romelu Lukaku but you’d be foolish to suggest he isn’t on his way.
His 32 goals for the Hoops last season thrilled supporters and dig a little deeper past that number and you begin to understand the hype.
Five of those goals came in Europe as the striker helped the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stages, before scoring against the likes of Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Five more came in the derby against Rangers, proof that he can handle the big occasion and playing in front of massive crowds with everything at stake.
The reported £30m is a lot of money, even for an English Premier League side, but based on the evidence so far in his career, he may be worth it.
