As reported by The Sun, Everton are interested in making a January move for Sporting Lisbon striker Seydou Doumbia.

What's the story?

Despite the recent emergence of Oumar Niasse, the Toffees are still in the need for a genuine Romelu Lukaku replacement after his big summer switch to Manchester United. Receiving a reported £80m for the striker, they have the cash to bring in prove quality to spearhead their attack and it seems that they may have settled on their number one choice.

The Sun say they're preparing to make a January move for Seydou Doumbia, despite the Ivorian having only joined the club from Roma a few months ago.

The paper reckon he has a £55m release clause written into his contract and that Ronald Koeman is keen on making a move for the former Newcastle United loanee.

A born goalscorer

Doumbia has had an impressive start to his Sporting Lisbon career, netting twice in the UEFA Champions League against Steaua Bucharest and Olympiakos so far.

It's his historical goalscoring record that would like excited Everton fans though. With a career-spanning record of 189 goals in 328 matches, it's clear he knows his way to putting the ball in the back of the net.

His greatest success came at CSKA Moscow where he won six major honours, including two Russian Premier League titles, scoring 84 goals along the way, including 17 in European competition.

At 29 years of age he doesn't have much long-term room for growth but would arguably be coming into his prime as an experienced striker. Is he the man to replace Romelu Lukaku at Everton, at least in the short term?
