In Focus: Fabregas ideal replacement for both Man United & Liverpool

According to the Sun, Manchester United and Liverpool could be at the centre of a massive transfer tussle this summer as both clubs plot a sensational move for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

What’s the word?

What a story this is. They claim the Spaniard, who has struggled for game time in west London, is of interest to both North West powerhouses this summer in what could potentially be a £25m move.

With two years to run on his current deal, the 29-year-old is also said to have attracted interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, AC Milan and the Chinese Super League, though Reds chief Jurgen Klopp is understood to have ‘triggered a tug of war’.

Philippe Coutinho is thought to remain of interest to Barcelona, with Fabregas touted as a potential replacement in terms of bringing creativity to the ranks.

What would he bring?

Experience and quality. Both in abundance. The former Arsenal and Barcelona star demonstrated his wonderful ability to find space with a stunning assist for Willian in the recent 3-0 win over Everton and remains one of the elite passers in Europe.

Indeed, while he’s been suggested as a potential replacement for Coutinho, the World Cup winner would be an excellent option to replace Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.

Pulling strings from deep, his assured presence next to industrious compatriot Ander Herrera and world-record man Paul Pogba would give United a perfectly balanced midfield.
