As reported by The Daily Mail, Manchester City have placed Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann at the top of their transfer wish-list this summer.

What's the story?

Having not quite made the title challenge expected of them this season, Man City are looking for ways to be more competitive next term.

To that end, The Daily Mail reckon that they're planning a massive £75m raid on Atletico Madrid for their superstar attacker Antoine Griezmann, a player who is the envy of almost every football fan in Europe.

However, they're set for a showdown with Manchester United for his signature with Jose Mourinho also showing a keen interest, according to the paper.

How lethal is he?

The Frenchman has scored an incredible 25 goals for Atletico Madrid, maintaining the standard he has set at the club over the last few seasons. Since joining the Spanish club in 2014, he's been on the scoresheet a massive 82 times. Not bad for a player who you wouldn't regard as an out and out goal poacher.

That all round game would suit Man City very well, with Pep Guardiola seeking a player who can blend more effectively with his frontline than Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian is undoubtedly an excellent Premier League striker but Griezmann arguably has more versatility.

A move for the 26 year old, who is just coming into his prime, could even be the difference as the Citizens chase the league title once again next season.
