As reported by Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are interested in the signature of Philippe Coutinho this summer, meaning Liverpool could face a fight to hold on to the Brazilian.

What's the story?

Coutinho has had a fairly inconsistent spell at the Reds since returning from injury in January but that isn't stopping Europe's biggest clubs casting their eye on Anfield.

Sport reckon that the attacking midfielder is priority number one for Barcelona this summer, the club believing he possesses the perfect qualities to fit into their style of play.

It could be a struggle for Liverpool to hold on to him, with the 24 year old said to be keen on the move to Spain. With other clubs interested like PSG, according to the report, how long can Liverpool hold on to their star man and is this the time to cash in?

Coutinho as an asset

There's no doubt that should Liverpool sell Coutinho that he would command a massive transfer fee, a fee that could potentially be put to great use in assembling a squad capable of a title challenge.

That would be a risk though, when Coutinho plays well, Liverpool usually do too and it's no surprise their best form of the season came at a time the Brazilian was fit and at the peak of his game.

If Klopp is to have title ambitions next season then he needs to hold on to his star players and that includes Coutinho.

Selling him this summer would see the club do decent business but as we know football is played on the pitch and the Brazilian is a match winner.
