Fenerbahce have contacted Chelsea about a possible deal involving striker Michy Batshuayi, according to Foot Mercato.

What's the story?

The Belgian's lack of game time last season was always going to result in transfer rumours.

Batshuayi signed for the Blues from Marseille for a fee reported to be in the region of £33m last summer, but he struggled to earn a first-team place.

Manager Antonio Conte played him in 20 Premier League games, but handed the striker a place in the starting lineup just once.

Get French Football cite Foot Mercato as saying that talks have begun regarding a transfer with Fenerbahce, who regard Batshuayi as their priority signing.

Only a matter of days ago, the 23-year-old addressed the rumours of a possible Chelsea exit on Twitter.

What is the best outcome?

Batshuayi may not have been regarded as a first-team regular by Conte, but in his limited appearances, he still managed to score nine goals in all competitions.

One of those strikes - against West Bromwich Albion - secured the Premier League title for Chelsea last season.

The forward has not been given a fair crack at the whip yet, so to offload a player that cost £30m when he has shown glimpses of promise is too hasty.

As it stands, Diego Costa looks like he will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, and after failing to land Romelu Lukaku from Everton, Chelsea seem to be struggling to bring in a new striker.

If that situation remains, it would make no sense to sell or loan out Batshuayi.

The Belgian deserves a chance to prove that he can cut it at the top level of English football.
