As reported by The Northern Echo, Newcastle United are on the hunt for one of the Premier League's hottest attackers this summer.

What's the story?

Needing significant reinforcements if they are to achieve their ambitions in the top-flight next season, Newcastle have a massive summer transfer window coming up.

Rafa Benitez is already busy identifying targets and one such player is Bournemouth's Joshua King, according to The Northern Echo.

The paper say the Magpies have a transfer kitty of around £80m to play with and key to their plans is King, who has emerged as a top target for both Benitez and the club's hierarchy.

Is he a player worth splashing the cash for?

Red hot

There haven't been many better attacking options in the top-flight this season than Joshua King. The Norway international has scored an impressive 16 goals in the Premier League so far.

That's even more extraordinary when you consider that 12 of those have been scored in the last three months alone. He was in typically lethal form just this past weekend when he netted the winner in a 2-1 victory over Burnley.

It's the kind of firepower that Newcastle United could do with. Adding players with experience of the top-flight is key and in King they'd be buying a 25 year old with his whole future ahead of him.

If he can produce that kind of form next season then any club who has his services will be very lucky indeed.
