As reported by The Daily Mirror, Liverpool are interested in signing RB Leipzig's Naby Keita this summer.

What's the story?

Jurgen Klopp has already spent big money this summer, landing Mohamed Salah from Roma. However, it seems he's not content stopping there and has his eye on one of the Bundesliga's stand-out performers last term.

The Mirror reckon that Liverpool are ready to smash the record transfer fee it took to bring Salah to Anfield with a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita.

The German club rate him at £70m according to the report and the Reds want to test that valuation with a giant bid say the paper. They also say the midfielder is Klopp's number one target this summer.

Is he the man to turnaround the midfield at Anfield?

What does he offer?

Still just 22 years of age, Keita's debut campaign in the German top-flight really couldn't have gone much better last term. Making 31 appearances, the Guinea international scored eight goals and assisted seven more, a tremendous return for a player who also makes a significant defensive contribution.

It's that defensive contribution that likely interests Liverpool most, their midfield was accused of being lightweight last season and Keita has the kind of presence that could really transform the way the Reds play.

It's obvious that he can turn interceptions and tackling into attack readily and given the pace and talent in the final third at Anfield, signing the RB Leipzig midfielder could be transformative should they land him.
