As reported by The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have recently sent scouts to check on the progress of German youth international Kai Havertz.
The Reds are well placed to secure the best talent from German football with manager Jurgen Klopp’s knowledge of the game in the country and it’s a link that should be utilised to its fullest potential.
Good news for fans then that they’re tracking some of the hottest prospects from the nation, with The Liverpool Echo reporting the club had scouts in attendance to take in a recent Germany U19s match against Belarus.
The man catching their eye? Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, according to The Echo, a player who burst onto the Bundesliga scene last season. He was in blistering form in the match, scoring four goals on the night in a 5-1 victory.
Already rated just above £7m by Transfermarkt, Havertz is rapidly making a name for himself after an impressive debut season in the Leverkusen first-team. He made 24 Bundesliga appearances last term, scoring four goals and assisting six more.
With the ability to play through the middle in attacking midfield or on the right wing, he has a versatility and a potential that could make him a big hit at a club like Liverpool.
He’s still just 18 years old and has plenty of improving to do, and working with Klopp at Liverpool could bring his game to the next level should the Reds firm up their reported interest.
