Birmingham City are interested in signing Everton winger Aaron Lennon on a season-long loan, according to the Daily Mail.

What's the word?

The 30-year-old is finding his feet again after a troubling time away from the pitch.

Everton released an official statement in May confirming that Lennon had been detained under the Mental Health Act due to a stress-related illness.

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger has since returned to the club and has been part of Everton's pre-season training schedule.

Lennon also suggested that he is in a better state of mind when he posted a note on Twitter thanking everyone for their support.

According to the Daily Mail, Lennon might be on his way out of Everton as Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp has expressed an interest.

It is believed that the Blues boss feels that the winger could be helpful in the club's charge for promotion.

What's best for Lennon?

With the player seemingly recovering from his off-field struggles, he will be determined to get some minutes under his belt.

Lennon has not played competitively since October, so he is in need of some game time, but he is unlikely to get it at Everton.

Manager Ronald Koeman has made a statement of intent by spending close to £100m and bringing in seven new signings so far this summer.

Birmingham will be a step down to the Championship, but as he is already familiar with Redknapp having worked with him at Tottenham, Lennon is likely to be played on a regular basis.
