In Focus: Liverpool’s La Liga target could solve problem position

As reported by The Daily Mail, Liverpool are weighing up a £17m move for Real Betis left-back Riza Durmisi.

What’s the story?

With Liverpool having to rely on unorthodox left-back James Milner this season, Jurgen Klopp is searching for a long-term solution to a problem position and may have found his man.

The Mail report Liverpool have been scouting Danish defender Riza Durmisi and could activate his £17 transfer release clause.

Jurgen Klopp has yet to make any additions to his squad in January and time is running out to do any deals before the transfer window closes.

The right replacement?

James Milner has tried his best at left-back this season but at times it’s been obvious it is far from his most natural position.

If Liverpool are to take a step to the next level into the UEFA Champions League and consistent title challengers then they badly need a natural left-back to come into the club.

Riza Durmisi is one such natural option and his flair for attacking and contributing in the final third could be the perfect fit for Klopp’s system at Anfield.

He’s become a regular for Denmark since rising to prominence at Brondby and won his move to one of the world’s strongest leagues last summer.

A regular for Betis, he’d be ready to come in and compete for first team places straight away at Liverpool and at 23 years old, has plenty of time to develop under the guidance of Klopp.
