According to reports in The Times, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to launch a bid of more than £60m for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the report in The Times says the French outfit are looking to significantly strengthen their squad this summer after losing out to Monaco in the race for the Ligue 1 title last season, as well as their humiliating defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League.

PSG are keen to bring in a marquee signing and are ready to make an offer for Aguero, who they believe is ready to move on from the Etihad this summer because of a strained relationship with manager Pep Guardiola.

In addition, The Times states that the Argentina international is now viewed as the second-choice striker for City behind Gabriel Jesus, and he could look to move on for more regular playing time now the 2018 World Cup is less than a year away.

How good has he been for City?

He has been quite brilliant.

Of course, no one will be forgetting the last-gasp title-winning goal he scored against Queens Park Rangers in 2012 but his over record in finding the net is nothing short of sensational.

The Argentine has scored 169 goals in 253 appearances in all competitions for City in his six seasons with the club, and he netted 20 in 31 Premier League outings last term despite sometimes not being a regular in the starting XI.

Injuries have affected him at points though, and that is something Guardiola will be thinking about it if a bid is forthcoming.

Would City be willing to sell him?

It’s difficult to say but Guardiola has certainly shown that he isn’t afraid to make big decisions when needed.

The likes of Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Jesus Navas have all gone this summer and Joe Hart could follow them through the exit door, while Gabriel Jesus was preferred to Aguero on a number of occasions last term.

If City can get £60m for the 29-year-old and believe they can bring in someone like Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a similar fee, then they may consider selling him.

They would also obviously prefer to sell him to a club abroad rather than one in the Premier League.

What’s the verdict, then?

Well, while City supporters will want to keep him it appears as though Aguero’s future is far from secure, and a huge bid from PSG could see him exit the Etihad.
