According to The Sun, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will attempt to bring Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele to the Premier League at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

What's the story?

Mourinho has not exactly been frightened to splash the cash since arriving at Man United, and it is expected to be another busy transfer window this summer as the Red Devils look to return to the top of the Premier League.

A number of players have been linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent months, but according to The Sun, Mourinho is ready to make Dortmund attacker Dembele, who is valued at £24m by transfermarkt.com, his main attacking signing at the end of the season.

Dembele is understood to have turned down Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal to join Dortmund from Rennes last year, and the Frenchman has thrived in Germany - scoring 12 times in 29 appearances during his first season with the Bundesliga giants.

Dortmund are said to be desperate to keep the 19-year-old, who signed a five-year contract upon his arrival, but it has been claimed that a bid in the region of £50m would convince the German side to part with the teenager in this summer's transfer window.

Where would he play at Man United?

Due to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's presence at Man United this season, Marcus Rashford has largely been forced to operate in a wide area. That said, Rashford's performance against Chelsea at the weekend left little doubt as to his best position in the team.

Anthony Martial's career at Man United has stalled, meanwhile, after leading their scoring charts at the end of the 2015-16 season.

Jesse Lingard, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata have played in wide areas for Mourinho this season, although all three are better in a central position, which suggests that Man United will be looking for a new wide player in this summer's transfer window.

Fitting the profile in terms of age, Dembele has scored eight times in 40 appearances for Dortmund this season, while he has provided 10 assists in 18 Bundesliga starts, which is an indication of his ability to create.

Mourinho needs to be a touch careful that he does not flood his attack with players that have similar qualities, but Dembele's pace, power and end product seem a perfect fit for the Premier League.

It is not going to be easy to convince Dortmund to sell Dembele this summer after the German side worked so hard to secure his services, although history suggests that the Bundesliga club find it difficult to keep their best players when big-money bids arrive.
