As reported by The Daily Star, Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been left waiting on a new contract despite positive early signals about a potential deal in the summer.
After years of transfer speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, it appears that the Spanish goalkeeper has finally settled down at Old Trafford and is ready to commit his best years to the club.
However, The Daily Star say he has been left sweating on the prospect of a new contract, despite his camp receiving word in the summer that new contract talks could be in the offing.
Currently earning a massive £190,000-a-week wage at the club, The Star reckon that’s still short of the teams top performers with the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku earning £275,000-a-week.
With just 2 years left on his contract, it’s vital that the Red Devils tie him down as soon as possible to avoid an issue.
In England, David De Gea is arguably the best goalkeeper around and his case for being considered the best in the world is only hampered by Bayern Munich’s incredible shot-stopper Manuel Neuer.
The Spaniard has bailed out Manchester United on multiple occasions and has often won points on his own for the club. In total he’s made 283 appearances for the Red Devils, keeping 106 clean sheets, which is a fantastic record at the elite level.
He is arguable United’s most important player taking everything into consideration and sorting out his contract must be seen as a massive priority to avoid any interest from other big clubs.
