As reported by French outlet L'Equipe, Arsene Wenger has made personal contact with Monaco attacker Kylian Mbappe, however the Gunners face an uphill battle to convince his representatives that a move to the Emirates is the best thing for him.

What's the story?

After committing his future to the club, Arsene Wenger is on the hunt for elite talent that can make Arsenal a force again in the English Premier League.

They don't come much more elite than Kylian Mbappe in 2017 and L'Equipe reckon Wenger has been in touch with the teenager this summer amidst interest from Arsenal for his signature.

However the report also states that Arsenal's lack of participation in the UEFA Champions League next term is a real stumbling block for the player's representatives.

Can the Gunners convince the red hot youngster to make the switch to London?

Worth the hassle?

Mbappe is one of the hottest properties in world football right now after a sensational season for Monaco. At just 18 years old and with 26 goals in all competitions, including eight in the UEFA Champions League, he's tipped to become one of the best players on the planet in time.

That kind of firepower could set Arsenal up for a sustained period of success as he matures and grows into an even more accomplished player.

With clubs like Real Madrid also chasing him according to L'Equipe he is unlikely to come cheap but it's well worth Arsenal's time to pursue this one until the very last minute.
