Chelsea are expected to revive their interest in Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller in January, but they face competition from Arsenal, according to The Mirror.
Both London clubs enquired into the German World Cup winner during the summer transfer window.
Liverpool were also potential suitors, but Muller ended up staying with the Bundesliga giants, where he has spent his entire career so far.
With the window now closed, clubs will have to wait to do their next round of business in January, and The Mirror reports that Chelsea and Arsenal will turn attention back to Muller.
The 27-year-old has plenty of experience competing at the top level having won 17 trophies at Bayern, including six league titles and the Champions League.
Despite the fact that Muller, who Transfermarkt value at £45million, is unfamiliar with playing in the Premier League, it should not take long for the attack-minded player to find his feet.
From Chelsea’s point of view, the German may not be the most elegant on the ball, but he would be a welcome addition to the team due to his tally of 161 goals in 399 appearances for Bayern.
Not only does he have the statistics to back him up, Muller has versatility in that he can play centrally or on the right of a midfield, as well as further forward.
The defending English champions have the money to satisfy wage demands, and Muller may feel tempted by a move given that he has often played second fiddle to Thiago Alcantara under manager Carlo Ancelotti.
This season, the German has played just 78 minutes of Bundesliga action across two outings.
