According to the Daily Telegraph, Newcastle United have been given permission to speak with Chelsea teenage Tammy Abraham over a potential loan move next season. However, the report also suggests that Premier League new boys Brighton are also in discussions with the 19-year-old.

What's the Word?

After a phenomenal season in the Championship on loan with Bristol City, where he scored an incredible 26 goals, Chelsea are set to tie the youngster down to a new long-term contract. However, the recently crowned Premier League champions are willing to loan Abraham out again, but preferably in the top flight this time.

19-year-old Abraham is rated incredibly highly at Stamford Bridge. In fact, the club turned down the opportunity to sign Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Barbosa last summer because they believe Abraham will be ready for first team football in a year or two.

Would Abraham be a good fit for Newcastle?

Despite their proficiency in front of goal in their Championship winning year, Rafa Benitez will know more than anyone that his club are in need of more fire power up front.

Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Aleksandr Mitrovic have all proved able to score in the Premier League before. However, only arguably Gayle has managed to assert himself to ensure he is a guaranteed a first-team place next season.

Tammy Abraham, despite having no top flight experience, is a sensational raw talent who could, if played to his strengths, become a huge success and mightily popular at St James’ Park.

Newcastle should ensure that they win this race with their promotion rivals – it could be a defining moment for the club this summer.
