As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal are ready to hijack Everton’s interest in AC Milan attacker M’Baye Niang after his spell at Watford last season.
Niang made his Premier League breakthrough in the second half of last season, moving on loan to Watford from Milan for the second half of the last season.
However, despite having the option, the 22-year-old decided against a permanent move to Vicarage Road and that’s alerted two other Premier League clubs to his availability.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say that Arsenal are now contenders for his signature after Everton showed initial interest.
Rated at £12.75m by Transfermarkt, is Niang the kind of player that Arsene Wenger should be targeting?
Arsenal fans are hoping that the club sign the best of the best this summer as Wenger attempts to make his side title contenders once again after a poor season in the English Premier League.
In that sense, signing Niang may be something of a disappointment considering he’s never really shown a consistency in his career that proves he is capable of improve the Gunners first team.
Making 16 appearances in the Premier League last season for Watford, he showed flashes of brilliance, scoring 2 goals and assisting 2 more but Arsenal arguably need a player who can carry more threat than that.
Still just 22, there’s an argument that Niang shows plenty of potential but Wenger needs players to come in an effect a change immediately. They can’t afford to bring players on over the course of the next few season.
