As reported by The Newcastle Chronicle, Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has emerged as a summer target for Newcastle United.

What's the story?

With Rafa Benitez on the hunt of talent that can make a difference in the Newcastle first team on their return to the English Premier League, targets of all profiles are being linked with a move to the North East.

Sheyi Ojo certainly fits into the untapped potential category and The Chronicle reckon the 19-year-old winger is on Rafa Benitez's radar as he looks to add creativity and width to his starting eleven.

The paper say that Newcastle are keen to wrap up their summer business quickly, so could we see a firm move for the young Liverpool starlet in short order?

Who is he?

Despite still being a teenager, Ojo has close to 50 first team appearances at Championship and Premier League level after loan spells at Wigan and Wolves. Also featuring 13 times for the Reds themselves, it's clear that he's fancied to be a top talent at Anfield.

However, he didn't make a single Premier League appearance this season, having to be patient and bide his time for opportunities in the FA Cup.

Rated at £1.7m on Transfermarkt, he needs first team football if he's to progress and become the England international he has the potential to be. He's currently starring for the England U20s at the World Cup in South Korea, helping them make the knockout stages of the competition.

It would be something of a risk to rely on the young winger to have enough consistency to be a success at Newcastle given his lack of experience but it could well end up being a shrewd move from Benitez if it comes off.
