As reported by The Daily Mirror, Celtic's interest in Eupen attacker Henry Onyekuru now faces serious competition with West Bromwich Albion also keen on his signature.

What's the story?

Celtic have long been linked with a move for the Nigerian teenager, even reportedly having a bid for him rejected in January. Eupen were said to be holding out for £3m for him then but it appears they've raised their price even further in the few short months since that initial bid.

The Mirror reckon the Belgian club have put a massive £7m valuation on the goalscorer now that Premier League sides like West Brom are showing interest and sending scouts to track his progress.

The Baggies aren't the only English side scouting him either with Liverpool, Southampton and Bournemouth all having him watched, say the paper.

That may ultimately price the Hoops out of a move for the player, with that valuation beyond their record transfer fee for a player.

Worth it?

Given Celtic's transfer policy over the past few years has been buying cheap and selling big, a move for Onyekuru doesn't make sense at the latest reported valuation of £7m.

Since his move to Glasgow fell apart in January, Onyekuru has kept up his fine form for the Belgian club, bringing his total tally for the season to 18 goals.

However, there's now likely better value either on the continent or in Britain as Brendan Rodgers looks to maximise his resources and build a squad capable of competing in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
