In Focus: Rangers should take any interest in Hodson and run

Rangers’ summer rebuild could see Lee Hodson leave the club with the Scottish Sun claiming Charlton Athletic are aiming to bring him south of the border.

What’s the word?

With the Light Blues likely to undergo major squad surgery as Pedro Caixinha attempts to close the gap on Celtic, Hodson is understood to be a target of Addicks boss Karl Robinson.

The pair worked together at MK Dons last year, before former Ibrox chief Mark Warburton opted to lure the Northern Irishman to Glasgow as a backup to James Tavernier.

After two rather dismal Old Firm losses in a matter of weeks, Caixinha will surely want to crack the whip in the transfer market, so Hodson’s departure could free up some space.

Will he be missed?

No, not really. The 25-year-old was certainly a good squad option in the Scottish Championship, though has started just once under his new Portuguese coach.

Indeed, his entire 12-month stint with the club has been a struggle to truly impose himself on first-team proceedings, so perhaps this could be a natural end to his time with Rangers.
