As reported by The Guardian, Liverpool are on the verge of signing Hull City's Andrew Robertson.

What's the story?

If you ask Liverpool fans what the biggest problem position in their starting eleven was last season, left-back would be pretty high up on the list. The Reds failed to find a natural in the position that could perform to the standard required with James Milner often having to try his best to fill in.

It seems that Jurgen Klopp agrees. The Guardian say that Liverpool are on the verge of signing Scotland international Andy Robertson, who has proven to be one of the most consistent left-backs in England in his time at the Tigers.

The paper say he will cost the Reds around £8m, a bargain in English Premier League terms. Will he be the man that finally solves Liverpool's glaring problem?

Is he good enough?

It's always tough to know whether players can make the massive step up to a top four side in England, but the progression in Andrew Robertson's career certainly points to a defender that could have what it takes.

With close to 120 appearances for Hull City in just three seasons, he managed to make a big impact on the side after his move from Dundee United in 2014. Many probably expected him to struggle for game time but he should the determination, desire and talent to that step up, so it'd be silly to write him off from being able to do the same at Anfield.

A committed defender, it's probably his attacking attributes that will shine at Liverpool most if the reported deal goes through. At both Dundee United and Hull he's shown great aptitude for moving forward with the ball and making a nuisance of himself in the final third. That'll suit Klopp's open, swashbuckling style and plugged into that system, he could be a big hit with Liverpool fans.
