As reported by The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to step up their pursuit of Everton talent Ross Barkley before the end of the transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur have thus far failed to sign a single player in this transfer window after an impressive second-placed finish in the English Premier League last season. With other teams around them strengthening significantly though, it appears as if they are finally ready to make some moves.
The Telegraph report they are ready to formalise their interest in Ross Barkley and are confident of landing the attacking midfielder, who they value at around £25m.
The paper say the bid for him could come as early as this week.
The attacking midfielder scored five goals and provided a further nine assists in 36 Premier League appearances for the Toffees as they secured a spot in the Europa League, but he once again failed to show the consistency he would need to be a regular effective presence for a top four side.
It’s Barkley’s potential that his true value lies, with many reckoning he has the ability to grow into a very fine player with the right coaching, environment and players around him.
Spurs seems a good fit in that regard and should they move for him, they could be the club that help him finally realise his potential.
