Newcastle United are interested in bringing Napoli midfielder Allan to the Premier League, according to The Sun.

What's the story?

Manager Rafael Benitez is still working on strengthening his squad as the team prepare to return to the top flight.

So far, the Magpies have recruited four new faces, and it seems as though focus has now turned to Brazilian midfielder Allan.

The Sun claims that Newcastle are considering a £10m swoop for the 26-year-old, but they face competition from Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.

The report states that despite Allan being a regular in the team, Napoli are willing to sell if the right figure is put forward.

Is it a good deal for Newcastle?

The North-East outfit have added Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo to their ranks, but they are still in need of some extra bodies if they want to avoid a relegation battle.

Bringing in Allan would provide some extra grit in midfield with his strength and ability.

The fact that he featured 39 times across all competitions for the Serie A club last season shows that he can cope with top-level football.

Allan, who has previously played for Udinese, also contributed with a goal and six assists in the 2016-17 campaign.

If Newcastle can get a £10m deal for the midfielder then it could go down as a bargain considering the huge figures being paid during this window.
