According to FC Inter News, Tottenham are ready to make a move for Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo this summer.

The Colombian had been a mainstay in the Inter side at the beginning of this season. However, an injury coupled with a dip in form saw the Colombian lose his place in the side and he is now believed to be available for transfer this summer.

It is thought that Pochettino wants to bring in Murillo as cover for Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, who have been arguably the Premier League’s best defensive duo this season.

Watford are also believed to be interested in the 24-year-old, who would be available for around £10million.

Who is Jeison Murillo?

Colombian born Jeison Murillo has been in Europe for the last seven years, starting his career abroad at Udinese. This was followed by a four year spell with Granada, where fantastic performances lead to a number of clubs declaring their interested.

In 2015, Inter paid €8m for Murillo’s services and he has since gone on to play over 60 times for the Italian club.

Murillo also has 25 international caps for Colombia; a decent return at just 24 years of age.

Would Murillo be a good fit for Spurs?

The Colombian is known for his all-action defensive style, which would undoubtedly endear him to many Premier League fans. Murillo is fast, strong and has a decent aerial ability despite his diminutive size for a centre-half.

However, he often has lapses in concentration and can switch off if not fully engaged in the game. This is a dangerous trait to possess in the Premier League, which can move from sluggish to rapid in a split second.

If Pochettino can train this out of his game, Murillo is more than good enough as a back-up defensive option for Tottenham.
