As reported by The Telegraph, Liverpool have made enquiries to Monaco about signing their star attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar this summer.
In sparkling form on Sunday against Arsenal, you’d be forgiven for thinking the Reds don’t need to add any more attacking talent to their starting eleven, but it seems that Jurgen Klopp may disagree.
The Telegraph say Liverpool are ready to break their club record to sign Thomas Lemar from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, making enquiries about a £55m move.
However, the deal is far from done with Monaco not keen to sell the star after already letting go of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva this summer, according to the paper.
Still, it’s a tantalising prospect for Liverpool fans and they’ll be hoping that some kind of business can be done for the left-sided player before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.
Put simply, yes, Thomas Lemar appears to have enough about him to be an absolute sensation at Liverpool. In a season when Monaco shocked everyone at home and abroad, winning the league and reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, Lemar was one of their top performers.
The Frenchman scored a wonderful 14 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions his side, making him one of the hottest properties in European football right now.
Still just 21 years of age, the sky appears to be the limit and if Liverpool could get a deal done, it would be quite the coup.
