According to El Desmarque, Barcelona attacker Arda Turan has already agreed to join Arsenal this summer, but the Turkish international's price-tag of £26m is threatening to scupper the move.

What's the story?

Turan scored 12 times in all competitions for Barcelona during the 2016-17 campaign, but the attacker has been strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou after failing to gain a regular spot in the Spanish outfit's first XI.

Indeed, the Turk only started 14 of Barcelona's 38 La Liga matches last term, and it is understood that he has been deemed surplus to requirements by incoming boss Ernesto Valverde.

According to El Desmarque, Turan has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal over a move to the Emirates Stadium, but the Gunners are not prepared to meet Barcelona's £26m asking price.

It has been claimed that head coach Arsene Wenger is attempting to reduce the valuation, but Barcelona are holding firm as they look to recoup the fee they paid Atletico Madrid in 2015.

What are Turan's credentials?

A Turkish international of 96 caps, Turan came through the youth system at Galatasaray, and made 130 league appearances for the Istanbul club before moving on to Atletico in 2011.

The 30-year-old spent four years with the Madrid giants, winning one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey and one Europa League during his time at the Vicente Calderon.

Barcelona spent in excess of £30m to bring Turan to Camp Nou in the summer of 2015, but he was unable to play until January 2016 due to the Spanish club's transfer ban.

Turan managed just two goals in the second half of the 2015-16 season, however, and despite netting 12 times last term, he struggled to win a regular position in the first selection.

At 30, Turan is hardly a spring chicken, but he has a wealth of experience at the top level of football, and is exactly the type of player that Arsenal need if they are to challenge for the Premier League next season.
