As reported by The Sun, Arsenal are interested in signing Trabzonspor talent Abdulkamir Omur.
While the Gunners showed the spending power to secure first-team talent like Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac this summer, they’re always on the hunt for the talent yet to establish themselves as top stars on the continent.
One such player is Abdulkamir Omur, who burst onto the Super Lig scene last term. That’s according to former Trabzonspor coach Sadi Tekelioglu, who reckons that Wenger and Atletico Madrid are hoping to secure his talent.
As quoted by The Sun, he said:
Arsenal want to sign Abdulkadir. I heard that Atletico Madrid are interested in him as well. But Arsenal are ahead of them in the race to sign Omur. Arsene Wenger does a good job when it comes to discovering young players. Abdulkadir will be a success when he moves to Europe.
Still just 18 years of age, there’s plenty of work ahead of the teenager if he is to become a talent that can be relied upon, but can he realise his potential in London?
Omur doesn’t have loads of experience at senior level, making just 12 appearances for Trabzonspor since making into the first-team last season. In that time he has impressed though, scoring one goal and assisting twice from various midfield positions.
Also capped by Turkey at seven youth levels, including most recently at U21 level, it’s clear he’s rated as a future star for club and country.
A move to a club like Arsenal and working under a manager known for developing youth like Arsene Wenger could turn that potential future stardom into a reality and if he is already attracting interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid, then the Gunners should waste no time in trying to sign him up.
