According to reports in the Daily Mail, West Ham United have reignited their interest in £8.5m-rated Osmalispor midfielder Badou N’Diaye as Premier League rivals Crystal Palace circle.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Daily Mail says that the Irons were keeping tabs on the performances of the 26-year-old last season and they spoke to the Turkish club about a deal for the Senegal international at the end of the campaign.

Little progress has been made since then as West Ham have focused their attentions on bringing new strikers to the club, but they have turned their attentions back to the midfielder with Havard Nordtveit completing his return to the Bundesliga and new Eagles boss Frank de Boer also interested in bringing N’Diaye to London, according to the Daily Mail.

How did he do last season?

He was an impressive performer for Osmalispor as they finished 13th in the Super Lig, and he scored six goals and provided a further two assists in 26 appearances.

N’Diaye, who can play as a central midfielder or as an attacking midfielder, also netted one and assisted one in eight Europa League outings.

The 26-year-old was certainly a little more impressive in his first season in Turkey, after scoring 11 goals in 33 Super Lig appearances.

Would he be a good signing for West Ham?

He certainly could be.

The Irons need more goals throughout the team next year and N’Diaye certainly looks as though he could bring a real threat from the middle of the park, and he could arrive for a relatively risk-free price of £8.5m.

Do they really need him?

Considering they have the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate, Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang to play in deeper roles in the middle of the park, you would think that the 26-year-old would be purchased to play further forward and compete with Manuel Lanzini.

They also probably need another body in the centre considering they sold Nordtveit after just one year at the London Stadium.

What’s the verdict, then?

Well, there is little doubt that the Irons need new signings this summer and considering the goalscoring threat N’Diaye would bring from midfield – and the fact that he is available for £8.5m – the 26-year-old could prove to be a great buy.
