According to talkSPORT, Juventus have confirmed they have received a bid for full-back and Chelsea target Alex Sandro.

What’s the Word?

Juventus have attested to the fact that they have received a “substantial offer” for Alex Sandro, one of their standout players in a successful campaign last season.

The 26-year-old, who is valued at £29.75million by Transfermarkt, is a favourite of Antonio Conte, who bought the Brazilian to Turin during his last season in Italy.

While there has been no confirmation that Chelsea are the ones to have tabled the bid, the current Premier League Champions may be looking to upgrade their left-back position, which is currently held by Marcus Alonso.

How good was Alex Sandro last season?

Featuring 43 times for Juventus during last seasons’ successful campaign, Alex Sandro was a revelation and undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best left-back in world football.

His offensive talent is incomparable, especially his accuracy of crosses and raw speed down the flanks. However, what is particularly eye-catching is his ability to defend so well, in spite of the offensive nature of his game.

The Brazilian was part of a Juventus defence that conceded just 27 league goals all season, while also helping his team at the other end of the pitch with 3 goals.

Would Alex Sandro be a good fit for Chelsea?

This one is a no-brainer. There is perhaps no better player in the world right now to slot into the left wingback role in Chelsea’s system. While Marcus Alonso has been mightily impressive during his first season back in England, Sandro would be a major upgrade and at 26, has at least five years of top-flight football ahead of him.
