Leeds close in on Ezgjan Alioski as summer spending continues at Elland Road

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are close to completing the signing of Macedonian international Ezgjan Alioski.

What’s the Story?

It seems that Leeds United are very close to securing yet another summer signing after Swiss club Lugano confirmed that their star player, Ezgjan Alioski will be moving to England. This comes in the wake of both clubs agreeing a deal for the 25-year-old last week.

It now appears that it is a matter of days before Alioski, who has 13 caps for Macedonia, becomes a Leeds player.

How good was Alioski last season?

Simply put, incredible. Alioski featured 35 times for Lugano last year, netting 16 goals. The most incredible thing about this impressive tally is that the Macedonian is a winger.

Undoubtedly one of the best players in the Swiss Super League last season, the diminutive 25-year-old was a constant menace to opposition defences, often attacking from wide areas or cutting inside and unleashing fearsome shots.

Despite his relatively slight frame, Alioski showed his tough tackling side last season and was booked 10 times because of this. However, this should come in handy in the all-action Championship in England.

Is Alioski a good signing for Leeds?

A relative unknown to most, Alioski will be following a number of faces into Elland Road who are unfamiliar to Leeds fans. However, much like Leeds’ most recent acquisition in Samu Saiz, if Alioski can take his goalscorinf form into the English game, Leeds could have one of the most fearsome attacking teams in the league this season.
