According to Tutto Mercato, Liverpool and Tottenham are keen to sign French International Geoffrey Kondogbia

What’s the Story?

Geoffrey Kondogbia could be the subject of an end-of-season battle between Liverpool and Tottenham, as both Premier League clubs are reportedly keen to sign the 24-year-old.

The Frenchman is currently plying his trade at Valencia, who captured the midfielder on a season-long-loan from Inter Milan. The Spanish side have the first-option to buy the former Monaco man at the end of the season. However, Inter’s £22million asking price may dissuade Valencia, leaving the Premier League heavyweight to pounce.

How good has Kondogbia been this season?

In short, very good. After a rather disappointing season in Italy in 2016/17, the Frenchman was in need of a fresh start. Kondogbia has been a key part of Valencia’s exciting start to the season. While an unnecessary sending off during a game against Real Sociedad means he has missed the last two league games, the imposing midfielder has impressed immeasurably.

Would Kondogbia be a hit in the Premier League?

With unrivalled physicality, decent tackling ability and fantastic dribbling and passing skills, Kondogbia would likely settle to Premier League life very quickly.

The 24-year-old, who is valued at £16.2million by Transfermarkt, would have the strength to compete amongst the tough-tackling world of England football, while also possessing enough finesse to make a serious impact offensively.

Whether his destination be Tottenham or Liverpool, the Premier League seems like an obvious fit for a man looking to work his way back into international contention in time for the World Cup next summer.
