It appears that Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho will be saught after by Barcelona when they lose Neymar. If this transpires, then Liverpool are reportedly keen to lure Manuel Lanzini away from West Ham.

The Hammers have been working on a new deal for Lanzini over the last few months and are now set to agree improved terms in order to scare off the interested party from Merseyside.

How good was Lanzini last season?

The 24-year-old, who is valued at £12.75million by Transfermarkt, has been one of West Ham’s most consistent performers over the course of the last two seasons The Argentinian featured 36 times for the London-based club during the last campaign, scoring eight times and always impressing with his flair, skill and bravery.

While it would be hard to disagree with the fact that Coutinho is a vastly better player than Lanzini, the Argentine would likely impress at Anfield. The former River Plate man already has the experience and know how to play in the English game and would surely thrive under Jurgen Klopp’s tactics. It may not be a big name replacement but it would be a shrewd one.
