Joe Hart has revealed that he’s happy to stay at Manchester City as long as he is wanted by Manuel Pellegrini.
There has been much speculation surrounding the future of the England No.1 in recent weeks, which was fuelled by Willy Caballero’s starting berth in the weekend win at Hull.
The Argentine is known to be a favourite of Pellegrini, and has been mooted as a potential first choice if the Chilean – who dropped Hart last season after some error-strewn displays – grows frustrated with his main stopper.
The 27-year-old is currently entangled in lengthy contract negotiations with City as his deal has less than two years left to run, and has been linked with a shock switch to Liverpool.
However, speaking ahead of the Champions League clash with Roma tomorrow night, Hart said:
“I am happy with what is going on at this club. We are fighting on all fronts.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.
“While I am welcome here, I am more than happy to stay here and see where that takes me.”
Pellegrini was also calm when quizzed on Hart’s contractual situation:
“Me and Joe know what is happening with that issue. It is important but not the most important thing in this moment.”
