According to The Independent, Manchester have turned their attentions to Serge Aurier, as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season.

What's the Story?

After trying a failing to land Monaco full-back Fabinho, Manchester United have reportedly turned their attentions to Paris Saints German defender Serge Aurier.

The Ivorian is now considered surplus to requirements in the french capital following their signing of Dani Alves and could be available for as little as £25million.

How good was Aurier last season?

Aurier, who has 39 caps for the Ivory Coast, proved yet again why he is one of the most consistent full-backs in Europe with yet another fantastic season for Paris Saint Germain.

Seemingly growing in confidence and talent with each passing year, the 24-year-old featured 32 times in all competitions, and offered some sublime defensive displays as well as a dominant attacking threat, which included four assists.

Would Aurier be a good signing for Manchester United?

While Aurier is underrated and undervalued in today's market, he does come with a wealth of personal issues that have affected his time at Paris Saint Germain. Homophobic slurs, skipping training and social media outbursts have all led to bans for the Ivorian. Jose Mourinho and Manchester United simply will not stand for these kinds of things and Aurier would need to sort his issues out before he makes the move to Old Trafford.

If he can get over these potential stumbling blocks, he could prove to be one of the signings of the season.
