Manchester United set to continue spending by signing James Rodriguez

According to Diario Gol, Manchester United are ready to bid for want-away Real Madrid play-maker James Rodriguez, as the club continue their summer spending.

What’s the Story?

In a bid to force his way out of the Bernabeu, James Rodriguez has spoken to club President Florentino Perez requesting a move, a conversation which apparently ended in the President demanding no less than £75million for the Colombian.

The report also claims that Manchester United are James’ preferred destination and are the only club interested in paying such a figure.

How good was Rodriguez last season?

Despite the fact that James was considered somewhat of an outcast at Real Madrid last season, he still managed to appear 30 times in all competitions and find the net in 11 of these games.

While he struggled to find a way past the immovable Ronaldo, in-form Isco and Benzema and insatiable Gareth Bale, the 25-year-old still impressed in flashes.

However, what was clearly missing from his game was passion, which almost physically oozes out of South American’s. James looked flat on the pitch and his mentality looked way off.

Would Rodriguez be a good signing for United?

Undoubtedly. James Rodriguez is in desperate need of a fresh start and Manchester United would be the perfect destination.

The Colombian would not only re-find that desire that he has lacked during the last campaign in Madrid, he would also quickly become a fan favourite, with his never-say-die attitude combined with his insatiable technique and skill.
