Leeds United have signed Swansea City winger Modou Barrow on loan until the end of the season, the Championship club have confirmed.

What are the details?

Manager Garry Monk has brought in new faces on both wings following the arrivals of both Alfonso Pedraza and Barrow on transfer deadline day.

Barrow has arrived at Elland Road on a short-term deal after dropping down the pecking order under head coach Paul Clement in Wales.

The 24-year-old is no stranger to Monk having been signed by the manager at Swansea in 2014, a move that saw him leave Swedish side Ostersunds FK, where he scored 10 goals in 19 appearances.

At Swansea, Barrow has scored just the once in 40 Premier League appearances and has been shipped out on loan twice before to Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers.

The Gambia international is not eligible to make his debut in Wednesday's match against Blackburn, but could feature against Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

He was rumoured to be an option for Newcastle United, but Leeds are the club to seal his signature.

Is Barrow a good option for Leeds?

The winger has not been in fine form of late, but with a regular run in the Leeds team, he could help the Whites' promotion bid.

It helps massively that Monk is well aware of Barrow's qualities and has worked with him before, which means that he may settle into the side quickly.

There is already evidence that recruiting former players has benefitted Monk, with Kyle Bartley and Pablo Hernandez doing well this season.

Leeds are well positioned to fight for promotion to the Premier League as they currently sit in the playoff places, seven points adrift of the automatic positions.
