Ronald Koeman has reportedly told Fox Sports that he is not interested in becoming the Netherlands' new national team coach, but Danny Blind's recent sacking could cause concern for Everton.

What's the latest?

On Sunday, Blind was axed by the Dutch FA 24 hours after overseeing his team lose 2-0 to Bulgaria.

The disappointing result has thrown hopes of World Cup qualification into doubt as they sit fourth in their group.

It has not been the most successful of managerial spells for Blind as the Netherlands failed to qualify for last year's European Championships under his guidance.

The Dutch FA's professional football director Jean Paul Decossaux has told De Telegraaf that Koeman is "undoubtedly capable" of taking on the role, but he understands that he is under contract at Goodison Park.

It is believed that the 54-year-old coach, who won the Euros in 1988 with the Netherlands, has told Fox Sports that he does not want the job.

Is that the end of it, then?

Probably not. The Dutch FA will not want to wait around too long to make an appointment.

Even though Koeman's current stance appears to be rejection where the Netherlands job is concerned, it does not mean that the bigwigs will not try to change his mind.

During his playing days, Koeman was capped 78 times for his country and speaks fondly of his career on the international stage.

As a manager, the Dutchman has coached numerous clubs, including Ajax, Benfica, Valencia, Feyenoord, Southampton and now Everton, but he has never taken charge of the national side.

The patriotic pull could one day see him take on the position, but for now he is trying to transform Everton into a dominant Premier League club.
