Real Madrid difficult to turn down amid reports of £100m Hazard bid

Real Madrid are prepared to break the world record to bid £100m for Chelsea star Eden Hazard, according to The Sun.

What’s the story?

It is not the first time that Hazard has been linked to the Spanish giants, but it is believed that the Belgian is a top summer target for Zinedine Zidane.

The Sun reports that three meetings have already been held between Real and the playmaker’s representatives this year.

It has been claimed that Hazard has been promised by the club that he will play in the hole between attacking trio Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

The newspaper reports that Chelsea want to keep hold of the 26-year-old, but manager Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen his squad, and the significant fee will go a long way to making that happen.

Is now the right time for Hazard?

In five years at Chelsea, the Belgian has won two Premier League titles, the Europa League and the League Cup.

He was an integral part of the Blues’ recent title triumph, scoring 16 goals and producing five assists in 36 appearances.

Chelsea are in a strong position heading into the new season as they prepare to embark on a Champions League challenge, so from that point of view, there is no reason for Hazard to leave.

However, the chance to play for one of the most famous Spanish clubs is difficult to ignore.

If Hazard has been promised a key role in Zidane’s side then he will not have to worry about lack of game time.

Should Madrid make a serious move for the playmaker, then it is worth considering perhaps opening a new chapter in his career.
