John Terry has hinted that he could leave Chelsea at the end of the season, reports The Mirror.

What's the word?

The centre-back's contract expires at the end of the season and there is no confirmation yet as to whether he will be offered fresh terms.

Terry is a long servant to the Blues having been part of the West London club since 1995, but he has spent the large majority of the season out of the squad.

Injuries have played a hand in the 36-year-old starting just eight games in all competitions, while Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill have been performing well as a back three.

The Mirror claims that while appearing on ITV game show Play To The Whistle with former teammate Frank Lampard, Terry refused to rule out a move to the lucrative Chinese Super League.

When asked if he would consider a transfer, the defender said:

"I'm not sure. For me, I want to stay at Chelsea."

Is it time for Terry to leave?

The former England captain has insisted numerous times that he does not intend to retire just yet, but perhaps his final flourish in the game should be elsewhere.

Terry has started just four Premier League games this season under manager Antonio Conte, and he has not featured in the top flight since November.

Even if he was not struggling with injuries, the centre-back would struggle to get into the team due to the quality performances of the current XI.

If Terry wants one big payout before he hangs up his boots then China would be an obvious option due to the staggering salaries on offer.

He could follow in the footsteps of recently-retired pair Lampard and Steven Gerrard by playing MLS football in the United States or pick up big bucks in the Middle East.

It is clear that Terry will not reclaim his starting spot in the team, so he should either retire now or have one more season or two elsewhere.
