West Ham United are interested in recruiting full-back Davide Santon from Inter Milan, reports Tuttomercatoweb.

What's the story?

The 26-year-old is believed to have attracted interest from both West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Premier League pair will contact Inter in the coming days regarding potential transfers.

Santon has 12 months remaining on his current contract, which means that the winning bid does not have to be too high.

It is likely that Inter will not want to risk losing Santon for nothing when his deal expires next summer.

Will Santon fit in at West Ham?

Well, the club need to fill the right-back position after it became a troublesome area this season.

Injuries woes suffered by Sam Byram and Alvaro Arbeloa meant that manager Slaven Bilic shifted personnel in the right-back position.

Cheikhou Kouyate and Michail Antonio were among the players called on to fill in during a season that ended in an 11th-place finish in the Premier League.

Santon is a positive option for the Hammers as he is able to play on both sides of the pitch, and he understands the English game having spent four years at Newcastle United.

It may not take much to persuade the Italian to leave Inter given that he struggled to earn regular game time this season.

Santon started just 11 Serie A matches and came off the bench in a further three.
