Galatasaray have released a statement denying that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign their Portuguese youngster Bruma.

What's the story?

Spurs have been linked to the winger for many years, and it seemed as though they were close to finally getting their man.

The Daily Mail reports that rumours were rife the North London outfit had agreed a £12.5m deal with Galatasaray for the 22-year-old.

However, the Turkish outfit have rejected these reports, insisting that the player is likely to sign a new contract.

"There is no official offer to reach us, just as there is no secret agreement for the price [with] the club that has been named [Tottenham]."

Is Bruma worth pursuing?

The Mail claims that the young Portuguese player first sparked Tottenham's attention in 2010 when he was a teenager at Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester City and Chelsea were also believed to have shown an interest, but he opted to develop his craft in his homeland before joining Galatasaray in 2013.

This season, in 23 Super Lig appearances, Bruma has scored eight goals and made six others, while his performances in general have impressed in Turkey.

The attacking player, who has the ability to play on the left or right wing, is quick and sharp with his passing and he is able to create goalscoring chances.

Given that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is shaping a young team, Bruma ticks plenty of the boxes, so he is worth pursuing.

Although, if Galatasaray make it too difficult for the North London outfit to even get to the negotiating table, then it may be best to focus on other targets.
