Tottenham plan £16million swoop for Venezuelan international Yeferson Soteldo

According to Don Balon (via talkSPORT,) Tottenham are ready to bid £16million to land promising Venezuelan attacking midfielder Yeferson Soteldo.

What’s the Story?

After catching the eye of the watching world during the recent under-20 World Cup, young Venezuelan Yeferson Soteldo is thought to be the subject of an impending bud from Tottenham.

It is thought that Spurs would want the diminutive attacker to stay in South America for another season, even if he did put pen to paper on a contract with the Wembley-bound club. The report suggests that Watford are also keeping tabs on Yeferson.

Who is Yeferson?

At just 20-years of age, Yeferson Soteldo has already caught the attention of a number of watching scouts. Having started his career with Zamora FC in his native Venezuela, the youngster broke into the first team at just 17 and scored 21 goals in 84 appearances for the club.

In January, Yeferson secured a move to Chilean Premier League side Huachipato and while he has yet to net for his new club, he has, in the meantime broken into the Venezuelan national team, making 4 appearances.

The youngster also lead the line for his country at the recent under-20 World Cup. Venezuela impressed immensely and reached the final, only to lose narrowly to England.

Standing at just 5ft3, Yeferson is known for his Messi-like dribbling ability and quick pace and vision.

Would Yeferson be a good signing for Spurs?

While Yeferson is unlikely to see much first team football at Spurs right now, he should be considered as an investment. If the young star continues to improve at the same rate as he has in the last three years, the North London club could have a very special player on their hands.
