According to French newspaper L’Equipe (via Express Sport), Arsenal are set to make a world record bid for Monaco teen sensation Kylian Mbappe.

What’s the Word?

Arsene Wenger is ready to offer up to £120 million to ensure that Kylian Mbappe becomes an Arsenal player this summer.

After failing to secure a top four finish this season, Arsenal are looking to splash the cash on a number of new arrivals to ensure that they become a Premier League force once again.

Reports in France suggest that Kylian Mbappe is Wenger’s number one target this transfer window and will be happy to break the world record transfer fee to land the most desired teenager in world football

Can Arsenal realistically afford Mbappe’s transfer fee?

Put simply, yes. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have around £150million to spend this summer. This does not include any transfer fee that they may accrue from the potential departure of star man Alexis Sanchez.

Whether the club will want to spend a large proportion of their budget on one player remains to be seen. However, it would be a real statement of intent from Arsene Wenger, who has a lot to prove to Gunners fans, after signing a new two-year deal recently.

Who else is interested in Mbappe?

A number of elite clubs around Europe are reportedly interested in the services of Kylian Mbappe. According to The Sun, Real Madrid are willing to break the transfer record to sign the Frenchman, while Manchester United are also keeping a keen eye on the 18-year-old.
