According to ESPN Brazil, Barcelona star Rafinha is considering an offer to move to Arsenal this summer.
Brazilian reports are suggesting that Rafinha could be on his way to Arsenal this summer. Following links between Barcelona and a number of new players heading to the club this summer, it seems that Rafinha will be one of the first faces to depart a club that he has been at for over a decade.
Despite missing the last two-and-half months of the season through injury, Rafinha still performed exceptionally during his rare moments on the field.
The 24-year-old, who is valued at £12.75million by Transfermarkt, scored seven goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona and was used frequently as an impact substation at the Camp Nou.
However, according to reports in Spain, incoming Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde doesn’t see a place for Rafinha in his long-term plans and would be happy to sell the player on, as long as the clubs £26million valuation is met.
The answer to this will depend entirely on whether or not Alexis Sanchez and/or Mesut Ozil depart the club. If both decide to leave for pastures new, a signing of the calibre of Rafinha would be a real statement of intent from Arsenal, especially considering the best years of his career are likely still ahead of him.
Rafinha’s versatility and skill combined with undoubted technique will immediately make him a favourite with the Gunners faithful. The questions will arise if he fails to live up to the immeasurable feats of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, should they depart North London.
