Everton have taken a huge step closer to finalising a deal for Malaga's Sandro Ramirez after the 21-year-old passed a medical at the club, according to reports from Spanish outlet AS.

What's the word?

The Toffees are closing in on confirming their third signing of the season in Sandro, having already signed Davy Klaassen and Jordan Pickford.

The former Barcelona man enjoyed a strong season last term, scoring 16 goals in all competitions, however will have to shoulder a lot of pressure at Goodison Park if he is to replace Romelu Lukaku.

As per the report, the deal is expected any time soon after the Merseysiders agreed to meet the €6m release clause in the Spain U21 international's deal.

Koeman's promises fall into place

When Ronald Koeman made the controversial move to to the North West from Southampton last summer, he did so on the proviso that his ambition would be reflected in the money spent by new owner Farhad Moshiri.

While sizeable fees were spent on both Yannick Bolasie and Morgan Schneiderlin over the Dutchman's first season in charge, there was still a feeling that it was not enough.

However, having already forked out almost £54m already this summer, with more looking likely to be on the way before the Premier League gets underway again, it seems that the former Barcelona defender's plans are coming together.
